Gift Guide: For The Hostess
November 30, 2015
I'm off to my first holiday party of the year tonight, so it's official - holiday party season is upon us! Our schedules are about to be filled with office parties, get togethers with college friends, and family gatherings and I'm a little reluctant to say this, but we're at the age that its no longer appropriate to show up without a gift! While a bottle of wine is always appreciated, I like to bring something a little different that won't get lost amongst the 15 other bottles of wine or alcohol.
Gift Guide: For Your Besties
November 28, 2015
Shopping for your besties has got to be one of the most fun groups on your list to shop for! The more frivolous and cute the gift is, the better. When I think of gifts for my best friends, I think of something sparkly, gold, or super feminine. Everything I've included on this gift guide totally fits the bill and the best part is that everything is under $50! When you've got a lot of ladies to shop for, it can be a little stressful to stay in budget, so my friends and I usually set a budget of $50 and under. With all the great sales going on this weekend, staying under budget is totally doable!
Gift Guide: Treat Yourself
November 27, 2015
If there is ever a time of the year to treat yourself, now is definitely it! With all the sales going on, it can be super difficult to not want to take advantage of all the steep discounts and savings on items you've been eyeing all year. And I'm going to go ahead and give you permission to treat yourself! I never want to put big ticket items on my Christmas and birthday lists because although it may be something I really do want, at the end of the day its totally a frivolous purchase. This is why the phrase, "treat yourself" was invented!
Black Friday Sales
November 26, 2015
Hello lovelies! I know many of you will be switching gears totally tonight and getting ready for all those Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, so I thought I would round up all my favorites from the best sales this year! There are some really good deals whether you're planning on splurging to treat yourself or need to knock out a huge portion of your Christmas shopping list.
Gift Guide: Mom
November 25, 2015
When I start making my Christmas shopping list, I always ask the people on my list if there's anything that they want. If they say something almost immediately, then that's normally my number one gift item for them but when they say they hadn't really thought about it or that they don't know of anything, that's when I turn to my "reserve" gift list. This is normally what I have to do with the moms in my life because behind the guys, moms are definitely the next hardest group to shop for. They either have everything they will ever need or they always say that they don't want anything, so a shopping strategy for them can be quite the challenge.
Gift Guide: For The Guys
November 24, 2015
Every year I get my dad a wallet for Christmas, and every year he acts super surprised and happy when he opens his wallet sized gift. It's like our own little tradition and is special to me knowing that I get him a gift he will use each and every day. I also know that it's not something that he will take the time to go out and buy for himself, which is what I'm quickly learning with all the guys on my gift list. If it isn't food, something to do with work, or an absolute daily necessity, it's nowhere on their radar. You would think this would make it super easy to shop for them, but when they shrug their shoulders at each gift idea you throw out, they quickly turn into the hardest people on your list.
One Year
November 23, 2015
Kyle and I have officially been married for a whole year! It's seems so strange to be saying that because it feels like it was just yesterday that I was putting on my wedding dress and saying "I do!". We (I) decided to celebrate by planning a trip to Cape Cod for a little weekend getaway. "I" is in parenthesis because I tried my best to surprise Kyle and failed miserably. I absolutely cannot lie to Kyle and have the worst poker face imaginable. It only took him a few days to get the surprise out of me.
Thanksgiving Dinner Outfit
November 19, 2015
Earlier this week I shared a casual Thanksgiving outfit for those of you who love to keep it relaxed for the holiday, so today I thought I would share something a little less casual for those of you who love to get dressed up or have somewhere extra special to be!
Gift Guide: Beauty
November 18, 2015
It seems crazy to be saying this, but the holiday season is upon us! I tell myself every year that I'm going to start shopping earlier, but I always wait until after Thanksgiving and end up stressed out and running all over town to find the perfect gift for everyone on my list. I've done a little shopping and bought a few gifts, but there is still so much to be done! I may or may not have spent an hour in Target last weekend picking out wrapping paper, ribbon, and gift tags (sorry, Suzy!) and already burning my favorite winter candle, but at least I haven't turned on the Christmas music yet!
Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
November 17, 2015
For our family, Thanksgiving has always been a casual gathering where the focus is on family, food & football. I'm usually helping my Mamaw with something in the kitchen and end up changing into my "real clothes" right before everyone else arrives, so I always end up wearing my go-to outfit of riding boots, a sweater, jeans and a scarf. This year will be a little different for us as we're staying in Boston for the holiday, but my outfit will definitely still be casual for our little Friendsgiving celebration.

Classic Plaid Poncho
November 13, 2015
I've wanted a Burberry poncho for about five years now, but I couldn't really justify spending that much money on something I could only wear a few months out of the year in Texas. Once we moved to Boston, the temptation to buy one started creeping back, so I started looking for a similar one at a lower price point. I was so happy when I found one from the cutest online shop, Jess Lea Boutique, I bought it within five minutes of finding it. It also comes in grey that is available right now, and the tan is on preorder for a shipment date of November 13th!
How-to: Prepare for Overnight Guests
November 12, 2015
With the holidays quickly approaching, the season of house guests is upon us! It's easy to tell your guests, "make yourself at home", but most people, even family and close friends, will be hesitant to act like they do at their own home. No matter if your guests are crashing on your couch or you have a separate guest bedroom, there are a few things you can do to make them feel right at home and keep your stress level to a minimum!
Loft Wrap Cardigan
November 11, 2015
When I was in Texas on my trip a few weeks ago I somehow convinced myself it was okay to shop. I had packed my biggest suitcase and two carry-on bags and had little to no room to spare in any of them, but it was definitely still a good idea to shop. Next thing I know I'm in the middle of the airport bag check unpacking my suitcase and cramming things into my carry-ons because somehow their scale decided my bag weighed 56 pounds. I also got stopped going through security because the top layer of our wedding cake was in the bottom of my purse. Casual.
ASOS Plaid Blanket Scarf

Scarf // Pixie Pant // Sweater (old), similar // Purse Boots (old), similar, similar |
This past weekend we decided to go into the city to explore a little bit and take Suzy to one of our favorite restaurants, Lolita. If you've never been I highly recommend it! It's one of the most unique dining experiences I've ever had and I'm not even sure I have the words to describe it. Let's just say, there's cotton candy served for dessert!
Grown Up Game Day
November 6, 2015
When I was in college someone told me that if you see something in your school's colors, buy it. At the time, I didn't really understand why they were saying that considering just about everything in College Station comes in maroon, but now that I've graduated and moved to a different state, I totally get it. It is so hard to figure out what to wear on game days as an adult. You want to support your team, but you don't want to just throw on a jersey or t-shirt and gone are the days that game day dresses and boots are considered age appropriate. Now, when I find cute pieces that come in maroon (amazingly a pretty popular color this fall), I scoop them up and don't second guess the purchase for a second!

Bar Cart Styling
November 4, 2015
If there is one decorative piece of furniture in our apartment that will always be a part of our home style, it's this bar cart. I bought it from Target about two years ago after Christmas to fill the empty space that was leftover from our Christmas tree and it has made it through our last two moves! I love that it's a fun and easy way to add your own personal style to your space while still being totally functional. We obviously use our bar cart in the traditional way to hold our alcohol and barware, but if that's not your thing, I've seen a ton of cute ideas to use them as a coffee cart or as a cute way to set up desserts and sweets for a party!
Fall Trends: Leopard & Lace-Up Flats
November 3, 2015
When I first saw the lace-up shoe trend, I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it. I thought the laces of the shoe would make it hard to style and possible uncomfortable, so when I decided to give in and embrace the trend, I set out on a search to find one at a lower price point. This red pair from Topshop fit the bill perfectly so perfectly, I'm tempted to get them in another color. The velvet pair I linked above would be so perfect for the Holidays! I will say that they do run pretty small, which I think is due to the pointed toe. I'm normally a size 10-11 depending on style, and I went for a 10.5 in these, which are unusually tight. I recommend sizing up a whole size to size and a half.
White Denim + Blanket Scarf
November 2, 2015
Earrings (Perry Street via Rocksbox)
It's been a little while since I've had a post, and although I enjoyed unplugging just a little bit to spend time with my family in Texas, adjust back to our Boston life, and welcome one of my very best friends to stay with us, I'm more than ready to get back into the groove of blogging! I'm excited to share this outfit with y'all because I've been dying to wear these jeans and this scarf since the day I got them. I felt like I had searched forever for the right pair of white denim, but these were definitely worth the wait. They've got the perfect amount of distressing and are a little bit thicker so they're not see through, which was the most common problem I had while I was looking.
