This past weekend I started doing some serious Pinterest research for a potential new haircut.  I’ve had long hair for most of my life with the only exceptions being when I was bald for two years after I was born and my freshman year of college when I spontaneously decided to chop all my hair off.  The baldness was easily fixed with a bow taped to my hair by my Mamaw, but the short haircut made me ugly cry for months. #dramatic  Ever since then, my family has dissuaded me from even starting to think about cutting my hair again, but lately I can’t help but have an itch to change things up!

The luxury of living somewhere we’ve only been for 9 months is that most things are still pretty new to us.  We don’t have to necessarily drive too far or go somewhere out of town to find some sort of adventure!  Two weekends ago I took Kyle to The Street at Chestnut Hill for a little different scenery for our shoot.  I had been there previously for Ku De Ta's Spring shoot and could not get enough of their bright back drops and cute store fronts!

Brights for Spring

As much as I’ve loved our time here in the Northeast, I’ve found myself missing Texas lately.  I think I can blame this round of homesickness on the weather and the fact that everyone in Texas is already wearing spring dresses and shorts.  I joked with my Mamaw the other day that I didn’t even know if I would be able to wear a dress for Easter, but I think that joke is going to be reality.  The high is supposed to be around 60 for this Sunday, which is much warmer than it has been, but still not warm enough for this girl to rock bare legs.

8 Things I Learned From Whole 30

March 22, 2016
whole 30 alum things I learned from whole 30

For 30 days I gave up grains, sugar, dairy, legumes and alcohol.  I thought I would walk out on day 31 with a few new recipes, less cravings, and a few pounds lighter, and while all of those are true, I also gained a whole new perspective on food.  I’m no longer living to eat, but instead using food as fuel for my body.  This is not to say I’m don’t enjoy the food I eat and will never indulge in a treat again, I’m just making smarter choices about when and how I choose to enjoy my food!

For those of you who have been following me on Whole 30, or those of you who are thinking about doing it yourself, I thought I would share the eight most important things I learned from Whole 30!

Fiesta Dress

You know those things that have always been on your wish list, but you haven’t really had an excuse to buy them?  For me, one of those things was a fiesta dress and it’s been on my wish list for years.  I don’t exactly know why I’ve wanted one for so long, but I always get the itch to buy a few times a year.  I would start my search and end up disappointed because I either couldn’t find one, or by the time I did they had sold out in my size.  So frustrating!

A few weekends ago some of my fellow Boston bloggers and I got the privilege of shooting outfits for Ku De Ta's Spring/Summer '16 lookbook with Sasha Dale Photography.  To be honest I was a little nervous because it's been a long time since I've had someone other than Kyle take my picture!  I know that sounds silly, but I can actually be pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people.  Sasha made me feel right at home and was so good at giving directions and feedback and the pictures absolutely blew me away!

Off-the-Shoulder

Shoes: Jessica Simpson  |  Earrings: J.Crew (old), similar

This outfit is composed of five of my absolute favorite things, and one trend I wasn’t totally sure I would be comfortable pulling off.  Chambray, wedges, bright statement earrings, a cowhide clutch and oversized sunnies are things I will rock any and every day, but the off-the-shoulder style that is popular once again this spring is definitely new territory for this girl.

Whole 30 Coffee

March 10, 2016
whole 30 coffee black coffee atlas coffee club pottery barn emma homegoods wooden tray cuisinart coffee maker pink flowers roses pour over coffee french press coffee cold brew coffee
In college I bought a Keurig and I thought it was the best thing in the world.  I usually only drank one cup a day except for the days I needed to stay up late to study, so having something that just made one cup was ideal.  Fast forward a few years and Kyle and I were each drinking 2 cups of coffee every morning.  Buying K Cups got ridiculously expensive, so it was out with the Keurig and in with a traditional coffee maker!

Whole 30 Update 2

March 7, 2016

Before I started Whole 30 I kept thinking to myself that thirty days really wasn’t that long, and truthfully it’s not.  But these past ten days have seemed to absolutely drag on.  I don’t think I can give you a specific reason as to why it has seemed this way, but one thing I know that has contributed is that everyone who knows I’m doing Whole 30 has asked me how much longer I have each time I’ve seen them.

Who What Wear For Target

Clutch: old, similar  |  Necklace: Love Always  |  Bracelets: all linked below!

There are many things Target does well, but one thing they do better than any other retailer is collaborate with major brands and designers.  They know their consumers and they know exactly what they want.  I mean how else does one walk out with $30 worth of dollar spot stuff?  Or is that just me?  And I’m going to go ahead and assume we all remember what happened with the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection.
