Happy Birthday, Kyle!
August 28, 2015
Today is Kyle's birthday! I just wanted to share a few of my favorite photos from Kyle's childhood. Seriously, how cute is he?! We found this one Sunday while we were having dinner at his grandparent's house (hi Bill & Jane!)
The Weekender - Vol. 7
August 22, 2015
Well, this week I became an official licensed driver in Massachusetts. I won't lie, I was slightly sad when they took my Texas license and didn't give it back, but I guess it's important to be legal. Something I learned this week was if you've been eyeing any J.Crew jewelry, and they don't have it displayed, just ask if they have it in a drawer, because they might be hiding it to display the new arrivals. I had been wanting the earrings I've listed below, but didn't see them in a case or anywhere in the store. I asked if they still and them, and sure enough they did and they were on major sale (more so in store than online). It never hurts to ask! Kyle and I have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us, but we're super excited to have friends visiting us soon.
7 Things I Miss About Texas
August 19, 2015
I promise you, southern hospitality is real, and you will miss it when you're not around it every day. It's seriously so weird to me when people look at me like I'm crazy when I hold the door open for them, smile at them randomly, or try to start a conversation while waiting in line somewhere. It honestly took me a while before I realized people don't randomly talk to other people they don't know here. The 15 minutes before my Pure Barre classes are a little quiet for my liking!
The Weekender - Vol. 6
August 15, 2015
I'm trying to hold on to summer (and warm weather) as long as possible and this week went by way too quickly. I spent most of the week playing catch up and crossing things off my very neglected to-do list. I booked my first trip home (look out, Texas!), managed to find someone I trusted to do my hair (if you're local, go to Sam at Hair Designs), tried my first spin class (still debating that one), and found out that Massachusetts doesn't tax clothing purchases under $175. We don't have any set plans this weekend and I'm looking forward to keeping things pretty low-key!
Weekend Recap - Playing Tourist in Boston
August 12, 2015
{Archway at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park}
So I definitely feel like I'm just now getting out of "catch up" mode from the past couple days. Our family came to visit us from Texas, so we spent the weekend enjoying time with them and showing them our new city. It was filled with lots of sight seeing, yummy food, and gorgeous weather. They could not have picked a better weekend to visit!

Black & White
August 6, 2015
Skirt (old from Francesca's), similar
Y'all...I thought I loved the Lush tunic from Nordstrom before, but I really love it now. In fact, I may or may not be obsessed with it. I would have never thought to pair it with a skirt because it's so long, but when I was going through my closet the other day, I pulled out this white skirt I wore for my bachelorette and got the crazy idea to put the two together. Black and white have to be one of my favorite color combinations to wear, because the possibilities are endless and it's so easy to find great options. I accessorized this look with my favorite turquoise necklace, hot pink lips, and some strappy sandals for a fun little outfit.
Wardrobe Staples: Clothing
August 5, 2015
Well it's finally time for the last post in my wardrobe staples series, and this one is about the most important component of all - clothing! I was out for a walk the other day with Pecan and the thought hit me that planning an outfit is a lot like painting your nails (clearly I have deep thoughts while enjoying nature). Your clothes are the base coat. Without them, making an outfit is impossible, just like it's never a good idea to start a manicure without that first step of a base coat. Your shoes and accessories are like the color you pick to paint your nails. You can either add pops of color, or keep it neutral. And finally, jewelry is like your top coat. Nothing makes your manicure shine like a great topcoat, and no outfit is complete without your sparkly baubles. Just as the majority of my other wardrobe staples, I've picked out a lot of neutrals that get you the most bang for your buck in terms of number of times worn. Before buying a pricier item, I always ask myself how many times will I actually wear this? If the answer is a lot, then I know I'll have a low price per wear cost and it will be a good investment for years to come. Now that you've listened to my crazy analogy and shopping logic, let's get onto the clothing wardrobe staples!
Chambray Shirt Dress
August 3, 2015
In case y'all didn't know by now...I have a serious chambray problem. I had to stop myself from buying another shirt when I was in Target the other day - if you're looking for one, they almost always have one in store. Just like the button down, this shirt dress goes with just about anything. I wore this outfit to an event I went to last week, and it only took me a few minutes to put together. Everything pairs so well with this dress and it's something that will easily transitioned into fall. You could throw on a heavier scarf or vest and some riding boots and be totally set. For these last few weeks of summer, I'll be putting a light scarf or thin belt and sandals or these mules with it. It's cool enough to wear in the heat, but the three-quarter length sleeves make it great for walking into over air-conditioned buildings!
The Weekender - Vol. 5
August 1, 2015
How is it already August?! I swear we were just packing up our stuff to move to Boston yesterday. We've got some family and friends coming to visit this month and Kyle will be celebrating his birthday, so August will definitely be a lot of fun! This past week was pretty educational for me as I got back into the studio at Pure Barre Burlington and attended an event for Juice Beauty. I definitely learned that you should not take a month off of weight bearing exercises because you will cry every time you have to take the stairs, and thanks to Juice Beauty, I'm starting to look at the ingredients in my beauty products a little more closely.
