After a week and a half of being back in Boston I have finally unpacked, cleaned and organized the apartment, and am somewhat getting used to the weather/time difference.  And before you start to think I'm crazy, yes, I know it's only an hour time difference.  I have no clue what it is about changing time zones, but it does not agree with this girl.  As a result, my sleep patterns and brain have been all over the place but hopefully I'll be back to my type A, scheduled self very, very soon.  And the sooner, the better, because can you believe it's almost February?!  And we all know what holiday is in the month of February.

Sometimes you need to go outside without putting on multiple layers, boots, gloves, and a giant coat. Although there was still snow on the ground, yesterday was quite a balmy day with temperatures hitting the high 30s, so I did what any normal person would do and decided to head out in this number.  I like to have a few outfits that are "ready to go" because it seems I'm always running out the door for a last minute errand or we decide we want to go out to eat and that we need to leave in the next five minutes #hangry.

I wouldn't say Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays by any means, but I will tell you that I use it as an excuse to bring anything and everything pink into the apartment!  All the decorations and gifts can definitely be taken to an extreme, but there's nothing wrong with celebrating in your own way and if that's going over the top, more power to you!  Whether you're celebrating with a significant other, your best friends, or simply want to tell your mom you love her, there's a ton of cute things out there this year!  I've included some of my favorites above, many of which are currently on my own wish list.  So, if you decide to treat yourself for Valentine's Day, I will not judge you and will probably be joining you!

Wrap Coat + Riding Boots

When I pulled this coat out of the closet to get it ready to shoot it almost looked like a white coat.  Thanks, Pecan.  Anyone with a dog who sheds will definitely understand what I'm talking about.  Lint rollers are our best friends and we've accepted the fact that we will have dog fur on us at all times no matter how hard we try to get it off.  I've seriously considered switching my wardrobe to mostly white, but there's something so chic about a black wrap coat that I just couldn't resist.

Winter is finally here!  Boston was kind enough to treat me to my first New England snow the day after I got back from Texas and for now, I'm completely fascinated by it.  I know it won't be long before I'm complaining and y'all will be sick of hearing me whine about how cold it is or that I can't go anywhere because I don't know how to drive in this stuff, but for now I'll stay by my cozy fire and take it all in.  Oh, and watching Pecan play in the snow is totally worth every freezing second!

5 Ways To Have A Better Morning

Mornings just aren't my thing.  I'm not the type of person that likes to sleep in until noon, but I also don't like waking up at 6:00 am either.  I've gone through periods of time where I'm able to get up early, even on weekends, but they never lasted very long.  Don't get me wrong, my type A self loves the feeling of crossing off a ton from my to-do list before lunch, but if I am able to sleep in, I definitely will!  I wouldn't call it a New Year's resolution because it's something I've been working on for a while, but I've found when I'm successful at having a great morning, I'm usually doing these five things!

Looking Forward: 2016

January 1, 2016

With a new year comes a fresh start and with that fresh start, good intentions.  But somehow, even the best intentions seem to go awry after a couple of months.  It happens year after year, and my past year's resolutions were no exception.  So, this year as I sat down to think about the new year, I also thought about why past year's resolutions have failed and after a while it hit me.  Resolutions are normally made in a negative way; "I want to stop doing this", or "I need to cut back on that".  So instead of focusing on what I need to stop doing, this year I'll be setting positive goals for myself.  Life shouldn't be about restricting yourself, but instead on doing what you love and doing more of it every chance you get.
