How To Handle Feeling Burned Out

It's been a while - nearly two month have passed since I published my last blog post and even before that things were a little sparse around here.  I wish I could give you some amazing reason why it's been that way, but if I'm being totally honest life just got really busy and my heart just wasn't into creating content.  I told myself at some point last year that I didn't want to write if it wasn't something I felt strongly about or truly enjoyed creating and that's when I realized that I needed to step back for a bit and focus on some other things in my life.

We Bought A House!

November 20, 2017
we just bought a house new homeowner housing market dfw dallas real estate

I mentioned a little while ago that our lives have kind of definitely been a whirlwind lately and one of the biggest reasons is that we were in the process of buying a house!  I haven't shared too many details on here or social media because I didn't want to jinx our luck in finding the perfect house.  Call me superstitious if you will, but through the process of selling our last house and hearing the stories of others trying to buy in the DFW market, I just didn't want to take any chances.  We definitely had a few bumps along the way as one does with buying an older home, but Kyle and I are absolutely over the moon to be able to start settling into the next chapter of our lives!

101 things in 1001 days list goals accomplish to do short term house family wellness personal improvement travel

I thought I would get back into the swing of blogging by doing a fun, multipurpose post!  We have had so many life changes happening lately that my short term goals and things I want to do have felt really jumbled.  I'm a huge list person and generally keep a daily to-do list in a notebook and a weekly/monthly schedule in my planner but I usually reserve those for things like "get car inspected", "phone bill due", or "buy water".  So, the purpose of this list of 101 things is to have a physical reminder of things I would like to accomplish in the next 1,001 days (roughly 2.75 years) and by publishing it here I have a community to keep me accountable!  Some of these are rather small things that I've been meaning to do for a while and some of them are huge goals that are going to be really meaningful to cross off.

5 Tips to Sell Your First Home

five tips to sell your first home buyers sellers realtors realty fixer upper how to selling buying sell buy home real estate market

I can't believe I'm writing this post because it honestly felt like the day we would sell the house I grew up in and inherited when my mom passed away would never really come.  It was a lot of work and required help from family, hours spent out in the hot Texas sun, and a couple of tears shed by me.  Hurricane Harvey also hit the weekend before we were supposed to close, so that caused some additional stresses and delays.

Personalized Jewelry

Let's talk personalized jewelry.  Y'all know I love a good monogram as much as the next southern girl and as I've gotten older I find myself reaching for the same pieces of jewelry every day.  Maybe it's the simplicity and ease of knowing what I'm going to wear or maybe I'm just being lazy, but I really think there's something to wearing signature pieces of jewelry every day and reserving things like statement necklaces and earrings for special occasions.

I remember turning to Kyle about a year ago in a department store and telling him that I could not believe denim skirts were coming back into style.  I thought that trend would be left far behind us along with plastic choker necklaces, crimped hair and glitter eyeshadow.  Honestly, I'm shocked my mother let me out of the house wearing some of the trends that were popular in the 90s and early 2000s.
