I don’t know about y’all, but I am more than ready for a change when it comes to my wardrobe.  It’s not helping one bit that every time I go shopping or browse online I love just about everything I’m seeing for spring.  And not to jinx us, but we had some absolutely beautiful spring-like weather this past weekend!  There are lots of trends that I’m looking forward to, but the one I’m looking forward to the most is the mixture of lace and utility pieces.  There’s so many ways this can be done and it’s an easy trend to transition you from winter to spring!  It also works for a lot of different styles because it’s a mixture of romantic feminine pieces and edgier more masculine ones.

I wore this dress for one of my bridal showers about a year ago and had completely forgotten that it was in my closet.  These are always my favorite pieces that I style for the blog because it’s like finding a little hidden treasure!  The main reason I loved this dress when I found it was because after days of searching, I had finally found something that I thought said “bridal” for my shower.  I don’t know why I had such a hard time finding a dress, but just a little piece of advice to all the brides out there – when you find something you love, don’t hesitate to buy it!  You’ll already have more than enough stress with planning a wedding and the last thing you want to be worried about is what you’re going to wear to a shower or party.

I had been eyeing quite a few utility vests and jackets since this past fall, but kept talking myself out of buying one because that little section of my closet somehow keeps growing and is kind of getting out of control.  I always tell myself, “oh, I’ll be able to wear this throughout the entire spring season, so why not?”  I made a little exception for this one because it’s at a really great price point, which is something I think is super important when trying out trends.  It’s also pretty lightweight, so it will definitely work for multiple seasons.

If you’re like me and more than ready to start wearing the lace and utility trend right now, I’m giving you full permission!  The masculinity of the utility pieces balances out the lace and if you add in some darker toned accessories, it’s more than appropriate for the season!  For this outfit, I decided on maroon accessories to contrast against the olive green of the vest and my favorite booties from Madewell as it is still a little chilly to break out the sandals.  As soon as the weather lets me, I’ll be trading out the maroon and booties for some wedges and probably light pink accessories.  I’ve been on the hunt for some pink statement necklaces, so if you’ve seen any, be sure to let me know!

Hopefully spring is right around the corner, because I really am dying to try out some of the other trends.  Do you have a trend you’re looking forward to trying out?  I’d love to hear!

Happy Monday,
Kathryn
