So I definitely feel like I'm just now getting out of "catch up" mode from the past couple days.  Our family came to visit us from Texas, so we spent the weekend enjoying time with them and showing them our new city.  It was filled with lots of sight seeing, yummy food, and gorgeous weather.  They could not have picked a better weekend to visit!

We started off by showing them Newbury Street, which is the most highly foot trafficked street in New England.  It has any and every store you could ever want to go to, and then some.  It is so, so dangerous to go there - future visitors, I've warned you!  We finished our day with dinner at Lolita, which is by far the most interesting and all around delicious dinner I've had since we moved to Boston.  The inside of the restaurant is decorated with red damask wallpaper, chandeliers, and black finishings which gave it a very gothic feel.  I won't lie to y'all, I was slightly weirded out when we walked in, and definitely felt out of place in my J.Crew and Palm Beach Sandals.  But all those thoughts were pushed aside when they brought out the food - so yummy!

Since there was so much of Boston left to see, we dedicated the second day to doing more touristy things.  We started off with a brunch at the Granary Tavern, which I cannot recommend enough.  DIY Bellini Bar, coffee, chicken & waffles - need I say more?  From brunch, we went to hang out with the penguins at the New England Aquarium before our Duck Tour.  I always thought the Duck Tours were a little silly, but after going on one this past Sunday, I will count them as an absolute must for showing anyone the city.  No Boston tour would be complete without a meal in the North End, so we headed over there to eat our fill of Italian food!

For their last day with us, we decided to head to Salem.  We had lunch at a place called Longboards (I also recommend Finz), popped in a few local shops, and finally finished the day at the Salem Witch Museum.  The picture above is of a stick work sculpture in nearly the middle of town.  They're such an interesting and unexpected thing, but they somehow totally go with the feel of the town.  You can actually walk into them and they remind me a lot of bird's nests!

I absolutely love showing people Boston, because I really feel that I will always find something new to see or do.  We've got some friends coming at the end of the month, and I can't wait to play tourist in our new city all over again!
